SUBSTASH privacy

SUBSTASH is a ledger you keep on your phone. Holdings, trades, notes, snapshots — you type them, the app stores them on the device where you entered them. There is no SUBSTASH account and nothing to sign up for.

What actually sits on the device

The records you add: coin symbols, sizes, dates, venue, tags, a TxID if you bother, P&L marks you set yourself, written notes. A couple of preferences too, like FIFO / LIFO / average and which ledger you last had open.

If you attach a picture to a holding, that file lives with the record. Same for any note text you leave on a trade.

Camera and the photo library

Only when you tap to add a picture. Camera for a new shot, Photos if you pick one you already have. The app does not walk through the rest of your library. If you never attach anything, those prompts never come up.

What we don’t take

No name, email-as-account, location, contacts, or a profile of how you use the app. We are not running ads in here.

Export

Settings has a text dump you can hand off with the system share sheet. You pick the destination. We do not keep a copy of that file on our side.

Changing or dropping records

Delete a holding, trade, note or snapshot in the app and it is gone from those records. Settings also has a wipe that clears the lot in one go. Removing the app from the device takes the stored records with it. We cannot fish a copy back out for you.

This is a bookkeeping tool. It is not aimed at children.
